CT-3 is designed for biomedical technicians who need a quick method to check the accuracy of the type T thermocouple thermometers they service. CT-3 performs this calibration check instantly, without the need for water baths or additional equipment. It is ideal for use in instrument service departments of hospitals or research labs where many thermometers are used. And because the cost is low, it is practical even for users with a single instrument.
CT-3 is simple to use. Just connect it to the thermometer with the miniature thermocouple plug, check battery and select simulated thermocouple signals. If the thermometer readout does not agree with the CT-3, the thermometer needs recalibration.
How the CT-3 Works
Thermocouple thermometers display temperatures based upon measurements of very small DC electrical voltages. The microvolt output from a thermocouple can be predicted for any given temperature. By applying a set microvoltage level, the thermometer can be made to display the corresponding temperature.
The CT-3 accurately generates electrical signals corresponding to six temperatures: 0.0°C, 15.0°C, 25.0°C, 35.0°C, 45.0°C and 50.0°C*. It can therefore be used to verify the accuracy of any type T thermocouple readout covering this range. The CT-3 has built-in cold junction compensation and an NIST traceable mercury-in-glass thermometer as a reference standard. A battery check feature eliminates calibration errors due to low batteries.
